Privacy Policy

Who we are

LensWatch (lenswatch.eu) is a contact-lens price-comparison service operated as an independent project. We list current prices for contact lenses sold by European retailers and link out to those retailers' product pages. We do not sell lenses ourselves and we are not an optician.

What we collect

• Click data — when you click through to a retailer (/go/<retailer>/<product>), we record: the retailer, the product, an anonymous click ID, the originating page, your country (from CDN headers), the user-agent string, and a session cookie (lw_sess, ~30 days) so we can correlate repeat visits without identifying you. This lets us measure which comparisons are useful and reconcile affiliate commissions.
• Account data (optional) — if you create an account to watch a lens or get reorder/price-drop alerts, we store your email address and the lenses you watch (including any target price). We do not ask for or store your prescription unless you choose to save it for reorder reminders.
• Analytics — Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity, gated behind your cookie consent. If you reject the consent banner, no analytics cookies are set and no events are sent. We never enable advertising signals.
• Server logs — standard request logs (IP, path, status) retained on Vercel infrastructure for up to 30 days for abuse mitigation.

What we do not collect

We do not collect your prescription, health data, or payment details. Purchases happen entirely on the retailer's own website under their privacy policy — we never see your order or card data.

Legal basis (GDPR)

• Consent for analytics and any non-essential cookies (Consent Mode v2).
• Legitimate interest for essential click/affiliate measurement and abuse prevention, in a form that does not identify you.
• Contract for account features you opt into (watchlist, alert emails).

Sharing

We share the minimum necessary with: our affiliate networks (Awin, bol, Daisycon and similar) to attribute a click; our email provider (Resend) to send alerts you subscribed to; and our hosting/analytics providers listed above. We never sell personal data.

Your rights

You can access, correct, export, or delete your data, and withdraw consent at any time. Email hello@lenswatch.eu. You also have the right to complain to your national data-protection authority (in the Netherlands, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
